This jar by Les Namingha is a striking balance of form and an overlay of design.  The jar has a wide body and an elongated neck.  The designs are painted with the visual impact of a series of lightning strikes in the evening sky.  The red, brown and tan seem to cut through the blue and green of the sky and the horizon.  As the jar is turned there is a sense of movement in the design, there is certainly nothing static about this piece! The painting on this jar is also very textural, adding both a visual and physical feel to the surface.   It is signed on the bottom.  This jar was from 2019 and we just took it back into the gallery.  The jas the cover piece for a 2018 article in Cowboys & Indians Magazine, “Giving Voice to the Clay”.  The piece is famous!
