Namingha, Les – “Shards of the Past, Present, and Future” Jar

8"w x 7"h

$ 3,600.00

Les Namingha has, over the years, created exciting variations in his pottery with new painting and technical styles. This jar has a round shoulder and a sloping side to a short neck.  The deign is a combination of various Hopi designs in a “shard” style.  There are two larger sections that have more classic Hopi-Tewa designs.  There are additional bird, lightning, and plant patterns.  The “dot” areas are a reflection of that era of Les’s work with pointillism.  The small lines are his stylization of the “migration pattern”.  These variations in design reflect the past and present and the future is the bold geometrics below the shoulder and the color, the continual evolution of his pottery and designs.  Les Namingha remains one of those potters who continues to defy expectations in his innovative clay art.  He pulls from his artistic background as well as his Zuni and Hopi heritage.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Les Namingha”.
