This is a new jar by Les Namingha.  It has a wide shoulder and a short neck.  Les said his intent was to paint a series of grids on top of one another.  He said of this piece:, “I wanted to create a minimalist composition consisting of multi-layer grid patterns creating a woven-like texture”.  Creating multiple layers of grids, as he went over and over the surface was time-consuming, but created a visually dramatic jar.  The result is a design that looks like stars shining at night.  The overlay of design keeps it from looking “symmetrical” and perfect but more like the sky with the eye moving from star to star. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Les Namingha”.
