Namingha, Les – “Winter Flight” Large Hopi Jar
12"w x 7"h
This is a spectacular large jar by Les Namingha. The jar has a traditional Hopi-Tewa shape with the round shoulder and short neck. The top of the jar has classic Sikyatki or Hopi birds flying over the winter snow. The geometric shapes are the shapes seen by the birds from the sky. The lines are their migration patterns. The bowl bottom of the bowl has a blanket, a necessity for resting in winter. The colors are modern and engaging. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Les Namingha 2021”. The jar won ribbons at the 2021 Gallup Intertribal-Ceremonials.
