Namingha, Lillian – Oval Bowl with Bird Tail Designs
Lillian Namingha is a sister of noted potters Dextra Quotskuyva and Priscilla Nampeyo. She is also a descendant of Nampeyo of Hano and the mother of Les Namingha. This bowl is made from traditional red Hopi clay. It is painted with bee-weed and traditionally fired. The bowl is thin-walled and oval in shape. The sides are painted with two different styles of bird wing and bird tail patterns. The bowl is signed on the bottom, “L. Namingha”.. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
