Lawrence Namoki has been known for a variety of styles in his pottery. While he began with deeply carved pottery today he is creating delicately painted vessels. This piece is entitled, “2012. It is part of a series he made around 2012 about Hopi stories. The jar has a Masau katsina on one side and on the opposite are petroglyph designs. On the opposite two sides are celestial figures. The jar was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface. The rim is slipped to have the appearance of wood. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Lawrence Namoki”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
