Nampeyo, Adelle L. – Large Bowl with Blackbird Migration Pattern

7"w x 4"h

$ 350.00

Adelle Nampeyo is known for her stylistic use of traditional Hopi designs.  This bowl has a round shoulder and a flat top.  It has a classic design that is usually described as a ‘Blackbird migration” pattern. The blackbird’s wings extend up to the rim.  Their tail feathers extend below the shoulder.  The bowl is painted with bee-weed (black). There is an additional red clay slip as part of the design. The bowl is traditionally fired to create coloration on the surface of the jar.  The coloration reveals shades from white to orange.  It is signed on the bottom, “Adelle Nampeyo”.
