This is an unusual pair of pieces by Fannie Nampeyo.  It is a small cut and a plate.  The cup is fully polished and painted around the rim with a rain and bird tail design. The plate or saucer has an indention for the cup and it has the same design painted around the rim.  They are both traditionally fired with light blushes on the surface.  It is amazing that both have survived intact in such amazing condition!  Add to that the creativity of making them and especially the plate, to fit the cup.  It makes me wonder if they might not have been made in groups for the Fred Harvey Company at the Grand Canyon.  They are both signed on the bottom in bee-weed, “Fannie Nampeyo” in the style of her signature in the 1950s.   They are both in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
