Nampeyo, Fannie – Horno Oven (1950’s)

4"w x 3"h

$ 575.00

This is an unusual piece by Fannie Nampeyo.  It is in the shape of a Horno Oven, where bread is baked.  It was most likely made as an ashtray.  It is fully polished and painted with bee-weed (black).  There are rain designs around the exterior.  It was traditionally fired with light blushes on the surface.  It is amazing that it has survived intact in such amazing condition!  It is signed on the bottom in bee-weed, “Fannie Nampeyo” in the style of her signature in the 1950s.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
