Nampeyo, Loren Hamilton – Jar with Butterfly and Hano Mana Katsinas

3.5"w x 4"h

$ 475.00

Loren Hamilton is a son of noted potter Tonita Nampeyo and a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo.  This jar is carved with two Hano Mana Katsinas and one Butterfly Maiden. They are carved into the clay and then painted with clay slips.  There are additional pottery shard designs on the carved surfaces. The recessed area around the carved designs is etched with linear patterns. The remainder of the jar is polished tan.  The jar was traditionally fired and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Loren H Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
