Nampeyo, Loren Hamilton – Jar with Corn, Katsina and Sun Designs

2.5"w x 3.5"h

$ 400.00

Loren Hamilton is a son of noted potter Tonita Nampeyo and a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo.  This jar is carved with a corn stalk, katsina, and sunface.  The sun is carved so that it is behind the pueblo. The katsina and corn stalk are all on the same level.  They are carved into the clay and then painted with clay slips. The recessed area around the carved designs is etched with linear patterns. The remainder of the jar is polished tan.  The jar was traditionally fired and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Loren H Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
