Nampeyo, Nellie Douma – Wide Bowl with Hummingbird and Flower Designs (1950s)

8.5"w x 3"h

$ 800.00

Nellie Nampeyo Douma was the second daughter of Nampeyo of Hano and a sister of Fannie Nampeyo and Annie Nampeyo.  This bowl is coil built and painted with bee-weed for the black and red clay slip.  It is an open bowl that is fully polished on the inside and outside. The shoulder of the bowl has hummingbirds (probably Hummingbird moths) and flower designs.  It is definitely a creative use of shape and design!  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed, “Nellie Nampeyo”.  Definitely a great piece of Nampeyo Family history in clay!
