Nampeyo, Priscilla – Bowl with Eagle Tail Design (1976)
Priscilla Nampeyo was a sister of Dextra Quotskuyva and a descendant of Nampeyo of Hano. She was known for her traditional style of Hopi-Tewa pottery. This bowl is a classic eagle tail design. The rim of the bowl is slipped and polished red. There are four eagle tails extending downward on the sides. It is a classic of her style. The bowl is painted with bee-weed (black) and traditionally fired. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom, “Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo”. It was originally purchased in 1976.
