Naranjo, Jody – Large Jar with Pueblos and Dancers (1997)

This large jar by Jody Naranjo is from 1997.  It is an early piece of her pottery and fully designed.  The piece is a classic water jar shape with a wide shoulder and elongated neck. The jar is fired a brown coloration.  It is fully designed.  At the top and the bottom, there are Pueblo scenes, which are polished.  Above and below the neck are large star patterns which are matte.  Finally, just above the shoulder are figures encircling the jar.  They could be deer dancers or some other style of dancer.  Note as well there are also star designs on the inside rim of the neck!  The background area (matte) is also fully designed.  It is signed, “Jody Naranjo” and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
