3.25"w x 5"h (w/ lid)

$ 500.00

Madeline Naranjo is known for her creative carved pottery.  Did you know that every piece is a pinch pot? Unlike most other Pueblo potters, she does not coil build her pottery, but each piece starts out as a ball of clay and she “pinches” it into its form.  This jar is entitled, “Bear Tracks”.  The jar has a “storage jar” shape with a round body and short neck.  There are four bear paws carved into the clay.  The center of each bear paw is left matte.  The remainder of the piece is fully polished. The lid is also carved with two bear paws.  It is fully polished.  Both are fired a glassy black coloration. There is a striking contrast between the polished and matte surfaces.  Madeline’s designs are always innovative and beautifully executed.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, ‘Madeline E. Naranjo”.
