Madeline Naranjo creates beautifully carved and polished pottery.  Each piece is built, carved, stone polished and traditionally fired.  This bowl is entitled, “Blessings of Water”.  There is a dragonfly on each side of the jar.  They are connected by two water serpents which encircle the jar.  Both the avanyu and the dragonfly are symbols of water and prayers.  Note the overall complexity of the carving on the piece.  Madeline has alternated the polished and carved areas to emphasize the connected designs. Madeline’s matte areas are sanded and perfectly smooth so that there are no indentations or areas where the matte might make a shadow.  Her designs are always innovative and beautifully executed.  The bowl is signed on the bottom.
