Madeline Naranjo creates beautifully carved and polished pottery.  Each piece is coil built, stone polished and traditionally fired.  This bowl is very round in shape.  There are two lizards carved into the clay.  The bodies of the lizards are matte, while the remainder of the piece is fully polished.  Note how she has carved the toes of the lizards into the negative space of the bowl.  Near the base are plant designs. The contrast of the matte and polished surfaces works perfectly. Madeline’s matte areas are sanded and perfectly smooth so that there are no indentations or areas where the matte might make a shadow.  Her designs are always innovative and beautifully executed.  The bowl is signed on the bottom.
