Madeline Naranjo creates beautifully carved and polished pottery.  Each piece is built, carved, stone polished and traditionally fired.  This jar has flat sides and it is fully carved. The designs are stylized parrots on each of the four sides.  They are deeply carved and complex in design.  It’s striking how each design connects to the next.  While the birds are polished, there are also matte areas.  The contrast of the matte and polished surfaces works perfectly. Madeline’s matte areas are sanded and perfectly smooth so that there are no indentations or areas where the matte might make a shadow.  Her designs are always innovative and beautifully executed.  The jar is signed on the bottom.
