Navasie, Charles – Jar with Birds and Bird Tails

6"w x 4.5"h

$ 325.00

Charles Navasie is a grandson of noted potter Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie and the son of Loretta Navasie. This jar has a wide shoulder and a polished interior rim. The jar is painted with two birds on the sides. They are separated by bird tails. The jar is painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slip.  The jar was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the side “Navasie” inside a frog hallmark.  It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair but some fugitive black bee-weed.
