Navasie, Fawn Garcia – Jar with Star Design (1995)

4.75"w x 3"h

$ 175.00

Fawn Garcia Navasie (b. 1959) is also known as “Little Fawn”.  She is a daughter of Eunice “Fawn” Navasie and a sister of Dawn and Dolly Navasie.  This small jar is coil built and stone polished. The jar has a round shape and a slight neck.  The top is painted with a star pattern, much like on ancient Awatovi pottery, while the sides have additional “old style” stars as seen in Pueblo weavings.  It is an interesting combination of the same design from two different uses.  The jar is traditionally fired with elegant blushes to the surface.   It is signed on the bottom, “Fawn”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
