Navasie, Marianne – Large Seedpot with Birds

5.25"w x 5"h

$ 350.00

Marianne Navasie was a daughter of Joy “Frog Woman” Navasie and a granddaughter of Paqua Naha.  This large seedpot is coil built and painted with bee-weed and red clay slip.  The design is a series of three spiraling birds.  The piece was traditionally fired.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with a frog hallmark.  Marianne would sign with a tadpole and a frog, but there is some wear on the bottom and the tadpole is missing.  The design composition is one which is more typical to Marianne than Joy and so I have attributed it to her.
