Navasie, Marianne – Large Wide Bowl with Birds

8.5"w x 3.5"h

$ 600.00

Marianne Navasie was a daughter of Joy “Frog Woman” Navasie and a granddaughter of Paqua Naha.  This large seedpot is coil-built and painted with bee-weed and red clay slip.  The bowl has a series of sections with Sikyatki birds and bird tails as the designs.  It is highly detailed and tightly painted. The piece was traditionally fired.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with a frog hallmark and an M.  Marianne would sign with a tadpole and a frog in her later pottery.
