$ 450.00

Kim Seyesnam Obrzut (b. 1969) learned to make Hopi pottery but began creating her Hopi Maidens in the 1980s.  By the 1990s she was creating them in bronze.  Today, she makes primarily bronzes: ”My bronze career has really taken off, and has earned me positions in museums, corporate and private collections all over the world.”  This piece is one of her Hopi maidens in clay.  It is white in coloration.  The figure is smaller in size and yet has detail in the hair and necklace. It is a classic of her style.  The figure is signed in the clay near the base “K. Obrzut”. The piece is from 1990. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Kim says of her Hopi maiden figures:

”The Hopi Tribe of Northern Arizona, is thousands of years old. I have a lifetime to fully explain my people and their history. I know many of my collectors now understand more about the women and their powerful place in Hopi history.”
