Ortiz, Seferina – Mini Jar with Birds and Corn (1970s)
Seferina Ortiz is the matriarch of a family of renowned potters, including Virgil Ortiz, Janice Ortiz, and Lisa Holt. This is a charming miniature jar. It is coil built and painted with a white clay slip and wild spinach for the black. The jar is from the 1970’s. There are two Cochiti birds and two corn stalks. The jar is signed on the bottom “S. Ortiz”. It was originally purchased from Richard Howard, and the “120” was his original inventory number which I left ton the bottom. It was traditionally fired and in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. Shipping is included.
