Padilla, Andrew – Bowl with Twisted Handle
Andrew Padilla is a son of noted Laguna potter Gladys Paquin. He learned to make pottery from his mother. This bowl is coil-built and has a twisted handle. The surface of the bowl is textured to make it look and feel like a basket. It is slipped with white kaolin clay and burnished. The interior is slipped with traditional red clay. The piece was traditionally fired. The bowl is signed, “Andrew Padilla”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
