Patricio, Georgia – Jar with Swirling Bird Wing and Feather Designs
Georgia Patricio is a daughter of Lucy Juanico and a granddaughter of Joselita Ray and learned to make pottery from her mother. Each piece is coil built and patined with wild spinach and clay slips. This jar has a round shape and a short neck. Patricia has painted a series of two different styles of bird wings. They extend from the rim to near the base. The triangular black-and-white sections are alternated with the red bird wing designs. It is a striking design that flows across the surface of the jar. It is signed on the bottom, “G. Patricio”.
