Patricio, Robert – 9″ Wide “Interlocking Clouds” Large Seedpot

This is a striking large coil-built seedpot by Robert Patricio. The seedpot is round in form and fully painted. The piece is entitled, “Interlocking Clouds” and has a series of clouds in each row that are interlocking one to the next. It is a complicated design and each row is a different coloration, alternating red and orange. The rim has an additional cloud pattern. The entire design is then outlined with bee-weed (black). It is difficult to decide if it is better to view from the side or the top! As always, Robert is pulling from traditional design elements to create new and vivid imagery! The seedpot is signed, “R. M. Patricio”. Robert has won Best of Pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market twice, most recently in 2022.
Robert said recently of his pottery:
““The pottery inspires me to keep going. Keeping the tradition alive in making pottery, that’s how we were brought up. Our ancestors started making pottery. It’s amazing what comes of a piece of clay. When you come to Acoma it’s peacuful and quite. When you look a piece of pottery, you see the same peacefulness.” Robert Patricio, 2020
