This is an exceptional larger jar by Robert Patricio.  He is known for his classic forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery.  This jar is coil built and thin-walled. It has a high shoulder and a fluted rim.  The jar is painted with four colors of clay to create the designs.  There are a series of sunflowers as the main design encircling the jar.  Separating them are large sections of fineline pattern and very tightly painted star designs. The flow of design on this jar along with the size, color, and shape are exceptional!  Robert is certainly one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today which is evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “R. M. Patricio”.
