Robert Patricio is known for his classic forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery.  This jar is inspired by the classic shapes of pottery made of his great-grandmother Marie Z. Chino.  The jar has a long neck and a round shoulder.  The jar is fully painted with a checkerboard pattern.  The squares are either patined with rain (line) designs or larger diamond-shaped snowflakes.  It is a strong balance of form and design.  Robert is certainly one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today which is evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “R. M. Patricio”.
