This is jar by Robert Patricio is a striking combination of form and design.  The jar has  round body and a short neck.  The neck has a series of fine-line stars as they start to appear on the horizon.  Below them is a white band, which is the horizon line.  Below are a band of interlocking stars.  The vertical band is meant to represent the shimmer or twinkle of the stars.  It is charming and creative! The jar is painted with bee-weed (a plant).  The jar is signed on the bottom, “R.  M.  Patricio”.  The jar is a striking extension of his artistry in clay and continues the amazing Acoma legacy.  Robert is one of the few artists who has won “Best of Pottery” at Santa Fe Indian Market two times, and most recently in 2022.

““The pottery inspires me to keep going.  Keeping the tradition alive in making pottery, that’s how we were brought up.  Our ancestors started making pottery.  It’s amazing what comes of a piece of clay.
