Pino, Lorencita – Red Jar (1960) – Tesuque Pueblo

4"w x 4.5"h

$ 100.00

Lorencita Pino is one of the few potters from Tesuque Pueblo.  She was known for her Rain Gods in the 1930s and her jars with faces on them in the 1960s. This is one of the few pieces of her pottery we have had.  It is an interesting piece for its coloration. The jar is a canister shape and the outside is fully polished.  It is fired a deep red and the jar has light fire clouds from the firing.  The color is more of a brick-red than the usual orange-red from the area.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Lorencita Pino”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
