Al Qoyawayma calls the shape of this jar his “Serenity vase”.  It is a distinctive form with the two overlapping spouts. This polychrome jar is carved with the “mosquito man” design on one side. This is a figure found in many of the Kiva Murals.  The figure is carved and polished with various colored clay slips.  The opposite side has four sections of a cliff dwelling wall.  Note that the overall shape of the four sections creates a key hole style door way!  The wall itself has various styles of door and window openings.  All the various colors are derived from native clays.  The body of the jar is polished tan while the carving is deep and mulit-level and accented by the various clay slips. It is a classic piece with a striking balance of designs and form.
