Red Starr (Sioux) was married to Santa Clara potter Harriet Tafoya and learned to make Santa Clara pottery.  This jar has a high, sharp shoulder.  The shoulder extends up to a short neck. There are feather and thunder designs around the neck, along with two inset pieces of turquoise.  Around the side, there are two larger panels of design.  One has a sunface.  The opposite side has two mountain goats.  They are separated by feather designs.  Nearly the entire surface is fully designed. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Red Starr”.
