Rickey, Marcia – Small Bowl with Katsina Design (1975)
Marcia Rickey is a potter from Walpi at Hopi. She is known by her hallmark as “Flying Ant Woman”. This is one of the few small pieces we have had of her work. It is fully polished on the outside and inside. The design is often referred to as a Katsina design, with the red areas representing the eyes of a katsina. There are additional rain and lightning patterns. It is signed on the bottom in bee-weed with a flying ant, which was her hallmark. The bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair with some fugitive black. There is a copy of the original invoice from 1975 from Richard Howard which accompanies this bowl! Shipping is included.
