Jordan Roller uses traditional techniques to creates his modernistic vessels in clay. This jar is coil built, carved, stone polished and traditionally fired black. The shape is unique with a low round shoulder and sloping sides.  Jordan said the designs on this bowl were inspired by the work of his great-grandparent Margaret & Alcario Tafoya. The designs are bold cloud, rain and lightning patterns.  However, note how most of them extend down from the top band of design or up from the bottom.  Once again, Jordan has used both thinly carved lines and more open spaces for his carving. The bowl is fully polished and traditionally fired.  Jordan’s work is featured in the book, “Spoken Through Clay” and he is certainly a  young potter to watch!
