Susan Roller Whittington (b. 1955) is a daughter of Toni Roller and a granddaughter of Margaret Tafoya.  She is the mother of Charles Lewis.  She learned to make pottery from her mother.  While she no longer makes pottery, most of her pieces were made during the 1980-90s.  This is one of her larger pieces, that she titled, ‘Fetish Bowl”.  There are carved fish, a bear, buffalo, and antelope as the designs.  The bear has a bear paw, and the antelope and the antelope tracks.  The shape of the jar is a classic storage jar shape with a round shoulder and a short neck.  The entire surface is highly polished fired a deep black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Susan Roller”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
