Romero, Susan “Snowflake” – Seedpot with Realistic Antelope and Mimbres Antelope

2.25"w x 2.5"h

$ 600.00

This is an exceptional seedpot by Susan “Snowflake” Romero.  She is known for her highly polished pottery with intricately etched with detailed imagery.  Many of her skills are ones that she learned from her father, Joseph Lonewolf. This seedpot is fully polished and fully designed.  On the top is a realistic antelope.  Around the sides are a Mimbres antelope, a  Mimbres Antelope Hunter, and one of those unusual Mimbres animal compilations of an antelope and fish.  They are each delicately etched into the clay.  There are also matte incised designs near the realistic antelope along with more deeply incised designs.  As with much of Susan’s pottery, there are so many layers of design one can keep looking at them and find something new!  Near the base are etched antelope tracks.  This piece was etched with design before it was fired and the surface is also highly polished.  The seedpot is signed on the bottom in the clay with her Tewa name, “Pho-sa-We”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
