Shawna Garcia-Rustin is known for her very thin-walled pottery.  This piece is from the 1990s and was made and painted by her and her husband, Patrick.  The jar is egg-shell thin.  The rim is corrugated wit very small triangular patterns.  The body of the jar is finely painted with interlocking stars.  The shoulder of the jar has a black-and-white stylized plant and rain design.  Note as well the indented bottom, which is a reference to the early Acoma pottery which had concave bases so they could be worn on the head.  It is signed on the bottom, “P. S. Garcia”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
