Sahmie Nampeyo, Rachel – Bowl with Migration Pattern
Rachel Sahmie is a daughter of noted potter Priscilla Nampeyo and a descendant of Nampeyo of Hano. She is a sister of noted potters Jean Sahmie and Bonnie Sahmie. This bowl is very tightly painted with the classic migration pattern. Each of the sections of the design is joined together by thin lines. The bowl was traditionally fired which creates the blush on the surface. The jar is signed on the bottom with her name “Rachel”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
