Jeanette Sahu is from Walpi, Hopi, on First Mesa. She began making pottery in the 1970s. Each piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and natural clay slips. This jar is slipped with white clay and then painted. The neck is corrugated with three rows of corrugation and it is slipped with red clay and then stone polished. The remainder of the jar has cloud and rain designs painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay to accent the designs. The jar was traditionally fired. It is signed, “J. Sahu”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
