Lilly Salvador is known for her thin-walled pottery and use of native materials to paint her designs.  This seedpot is painted with bee-weed and three different colors of clay, including her famous gray coloration. The piece is entitled “Bringing Moisture”.  The top has a large flower surrounded by eight smaller black-and-white flowers.  There are three rows of Mimbres animals and insects.  Each is different and they are complex in their painting and the surrounding thin lines representing rain.  Near the base is another large flower design. For the size, there is amazing detail!  All the various colors are from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Maria Lilly”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
