3.25"w x 5"h

$ 900.00

Lilly Salvador is known for her thin-walled pottery and use of native materials to paint her designs.  This jar is painted with bee-weed and red clay slip.  There are four rows of medallions, each with a different painted image. The top row has older human figures, each with a cane. The next row down has male and female figures encircling the jar.  The next row down has hunters and animals.  The final row has Mimbres-inspired animals.  The top of the piece has fine-line flower petals and there are more petals near the base. For the size, there is amazing detail!  All the various colors are from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Maria Lilly”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
