$ 1,800.00

This bowl is a collaborative piece by Russell Sanchez and Lawrence Baca.  There were three collaborative pieces they made together.  Each vessel was made by Russell and the silver lid was made by Lawrence.  Lawrence Baca is a well-known jeweler and the youngest recipient ever of the Spanish Colonial Art Society’s highest distinction, its Master’s Award for Lifetime Achievement.  The bowl here is indented with ten circular indentions.  There are perfectly round and much like the classic gourd pieces in San Ildefonso pottery. The bowl is slipped with mica and fired black. The lid is designed to be the sun.  The lid is very detailed and complex in construction and stamping.  The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Russell Sanchez”  The lid is stamped on the bottom, “LB Sterling”.
