Sando, Kenny – Jar with Eight Pueblo Dancers (1990s)

8"w x 7"h

$ 650.00

Kenny Sando (1963-2003) learned to make pottery from Gabriel Cajero and Don Chinana and was the brother of Wilma Gachupin.  He was well-known for his storytellers as well as his stylistic designs on his vessels. The jar is coil-built and painted with native clay.  The base is stone polished.  The jar has eight Pueblo dancers encircling the piece.  The top has sun designs slipped in an ochre-colored clay.  It is a complex design and creative in imagery.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “K. Sando”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
