Dee Setalla is a son of noted potter Pauline Setalla and a brother of Stetson Setalla, Gwen Setalla, and Agnes Nasonhoya. This large jar has a wide shoulder, sloping sides, and a short neck. The top is tightly painted with a star pattern along with rain designs. It is a more colorful piece of his pottery painted with bee-weed (black) and three additional colors of clay. The star design is one that was revived by Helen “Featherwoman” Naha. The jar has blushes on the surface from the traditional firing. The bowl is signed with his initials “D. S.” and bear paw (for Bear Clan). Most recently, Dee won the prestigious “Helen Naha” Award at Santa Fe Indian Market in 2019.

Dee Setalla is a son of noted potter Pauline Setalla an the brother of Agnes Nasonhoya, Stetson Setalla and Gwen Setalla. He is known for his large vessels and traditional designs. His pottery has been featured in numerous books on Hopi pottery.
