Setalla, Stetson – 9″ Wide Bowl with Bird Wing and Cloud Designs

9"w x 3.25"h

$ 525.00

Stetson Setalla is a grandson of Paqua Naha (Frogwoman) and the son of Pauline Setalla. His brother Dee and sisters Gwen Setalla and Agnes Nahsonhoya also make pottery. Stetson began making pottery at the age of 19.  This large bowl has a flat top and it is painted with bee-weed and red clay slip.  There are cloud, wind, and bird wing designs on the top.  The shape is reminiscent of historic Sikyatki pottery with the wide shoulder and flat top. The bottom of the piece is fully polished.  The slight blushes are from the firing. It is signed on the bottom with his name “S. Setalla” and a raincloud.
