Bobby Silas is a creative potter reviving ancient designs for his contemporary pottery. This duck effigy jar is coil built and painted with clay slips and bee-weed.  The jar has a complex bird wing pattern.  Note the use of the various colors of clay and the variety of designs.  The jar has the painted duck head and tail, giving it an effigy appearance. The jar is signed on the bottom with a coyote track (Coyote Clan) and his name.  It’s exciting to see an artist delve into the past for inspiration.
