Sisneros, Jerry – Wide Red Jar with Avanyu and White Outline

5"w x 2.5"h

$ 250.00

Jerry Sisneros learned to make pottery from his mother, Olaria Sisneros.  He was never prolific but created well-polished and intricately painted pieces.  This jar has a wide, sharp shoulder and a sloping side.  It is painted red-on-red with a water serpent design.  Interestingly, there is a white clay outline of the avanyu.  It is very subtle but always takes more time to paint the outline into the design.  The painting leaves enough open polished space to reveal the highly polished surface.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Jerry Sisneros”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
