Mary Small (b. 1940) is known for her traditional Jemez pottery.  It is not just her painting, which is distinctive, but the gray-colored clay that she uses is distinctive to her pottery.  This bowl is coil built and painted with clay slips.  The top has a feather design.  The sides are painted with traditional clouds, rain, and lightning patterns.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Mary Small”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
