Cresencia Tafoya is the mother of noted potters Harriet Tafoya and Annie Baca. This is one of the largest pieces of her pottery we have had in the gallery.  It is fully polished, even on the inside of the bowl!  Around the shoulder, it is painted with sun, rain, and cloud designs.  The handles are also fully polished.  The bowl was fired a deep black.  The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Cresencia”.
